Why is your Samsung fridge not making ice?
Sometimes, it is possible to fix a Samsung fridge that is not making ice on your own and save some money. There can be several reasons why a refrigerator stopped making ice.
Here are some main causes:
First of all, check and make sure that the temperature setting is correct. The freezer must be set at a cold enough temperature for the ice maker to function properly. Make sure the temperature is between -2 – 0 degrees in your Samsung refrigerator.
Check the water supply as this is probably the most common reason. Make sure that the water supply line is properly connected, the water is turned on, and not kinked or blocked. If no water comes to the ice maker, it won’t be able to produce ice in your Samsung refrigerator.
You should also check for any ice buildup in the water line. You can use a hairdryer on low heat or a warm towel to defrost it.
Next, you can check the water inlet valve. The water inlet valve controls the water flow to the ice maker. It may be defective or clogged and prevent water to enter the ice maker in your Samsung refrigerator.
Sometimes slightly knocking on the valve may fix the problem, however, you should consider replacing the inlet valve in your Samsung refrigerator.
Ice maker itself may be broken. We strongly recommend to contact a Samsung refrigerator repair company or your local appliance repair service company to check the ice maker components. However, restarting the refrigerator may fix the problem. Simply unplug the power for 2-5 minutes and then turn it back on. Some refrigerators have an ice maker switch or arm that can manually turn off/on the ice maker. Make sure that the ice maker is enabled (on the panel or ice maker switch or arm).
